The Brief

The Aim of the project

  • To create a new logo for S.N.A.P.P.Y (Special Needs Activities and Play Provisions for York)

  • To map out a website design

  • Design possible merchandise ideas

Target Audience

  • The people who attend S.N.A.P.P.Y – Age 5 to 25

  • Anyone who may be interested in joining S.N.A.P.P.Y

Tone

  • Fun, happy etc.

Elements

  • The logo needs to include a “fun image” of a crocodile and the full name of the charity

  • The crocodile character also needs to be able to have different ‘outfits’ such as hats or rucksacks etc.

The top image shows the S.N.A.P.P.Y. logo I designed, I then changed the body size and form to create different characters and personalities to suit the large target audience.

Snappy also needed to have different outfits for holidays, like Easter and Christmas

This is the business card I created, it shows all of the relevant information, as well as the characters and the logo.

This shows how my website design would look if used, I thought adding the characters around the side made it look more interesting and colourful.

When designing the t-shirts, I thought about the ages and personalities of those who were wearing them.

After creating the t-shirt designs, I thought the SNAPPY logo and characters would look good on other merchandise such as pens, notebooks, pin badges, tote bags etc. It would mean that the people going to SNAPPY would have something useful, whilst also advertising it when out-and-about.

Whilst I was designing the accessories for Snappy to ‘wear’ I was thinking about how the target audience themselves could chose the outfit combination. One of the main ideas that came to mind was magnets, fridge magnets in particular, so that a child could use it without having to use glue or pins to allow the accessories to stick to Snappy safely - a simple idea that gets children to interact with something without even thinking about it.
